After a few days of holiday craziness and a rather fun and drunken Brews and Views, it was nice to just chill at home for a day. Mia and I got a very slow start to our Friday and ended up ditching all of our original Friday plans. Instead we spent the day chilling at home, watching TV, editing photos, and working on our respective 365 Days shots. The rest of the weekend is looking to be a rather relaxed one as well. I have a strong feeling that we're not going to be very productive during the last few days of our vacation time (we're both off through the new year).
I like lazy weekends. No major commitments. No schedule to keep. Just go anywhere and do anything that I feel like.
This weekend has been the perfect lazy weekend. On Friday night, Mia and I met up with a bunch of friends at Cupcake Royale in Ballard for of coffee, cupcakes, and conversation. Afterwards Mia, Rachel, and I strolled down to Conor Byrne to get a couple of drinks and enjoy a live show by Tom Catmull and the Clerics.
We kicked off Saturday with lunch at Seven Star Pepper with Benn, Brittney, Bryan, Kyle, and Leanne and then a leisurely stroll in downtown Seattle. We had considered going on the Seattle Flickrite November photostroll in the International District, but neither of use felt like jockeying with 50 photographers for decent shots. We closed out Saturday night with dinner at Mama’s Mexican kitchen and then drinks and a showing of American Gangster at Big Picture.
This morning (Sunday, for those of you who read this quickly) we had brunch at Cyclops and are now chilling at Uptown Espresso in Belltown. We’ll probably go do a bit of shopping before Mia goes to job #2 tonight and then chill some more later tonight. “Chill” is the operative word today. I think I’ll stop writing and go back to chilling right now.

So, in case you haven’t been following my Flickr photostream, the reason for the lack of posts here is because I’ve been a bit pre-occupied having an absolute blast spending time with Mia (awwwww….!!!). We’ve been so busy hanging out with each other and going out with friends that I really haven’t taken much time to write about any of it. Let’s do a quick recap of some of the highlights from past couple of weeks:
- Market Ghost Tour at Pike Place Market on Halloween. Learned a bit of history about the market, did some bar hopping, sat through a séance.
- CD release party for The Kindness Kind (Mia’s friend is in the band) at High Dive.
- Seattle Flickr/Strobist Meetup at the University of Washington. Met tons of new people.
- Blade Runner: The Final Cut at Cinerama. That movie looks incredible on the big screen.
- Brahms piano concerto performance at Benaroya Hall followed by a late dinner at Wild Ginger (omg, that flourless chocolate torte was awesome).
- Seattle Flickriote November Photo Show opening reception at Cafe Vega and after-party at The Jones.
- An overnight trip to Vancouver BC.
- Another Kindness Kind show, this time at Chop Suey.
Sure, it’s been pretty crazy these past couple of weeks, but it’s been a ton of fun, and it sure beats the hell out of sitting at home doing nothing. However, I do need to spend a bit more time working on beating Guitar Hero 3…
